Microsoft arbeitet unermüdlich um seine Produkte in derselben oder sogar besseren Qualität auf alle verfügbaren Plattformen zu bringen. Ein großes Augenmerk legt man auf iOS. Für diese Plattform hatte man vor einiger Zeit die Kamera App Microsoft Pix veröffentlicht, die nun ein großes Update erfährt.

Microsoft Pix ist eine Kamera App für das iPhone, iPad oder iPod Touch, welche in einigen Situationen in der Tat bessere Bilder macht, als die bereits verfügbar iOS Kamera. Die Microsoft App nutzt dabei verschiedene Features, wie Gesichtserkennung und Co. und macht gleich mehrere Bilder. Ihr könnt dann daraus das beste heraussuchen. Vor allem in Low Light Situationen sind die Automatiken meiner Meinung nach teilweise besser als die der Apple Kamera.

Aber kommen wir zum Update an sich. Im wesentlichen hat man zwei neue Features eingebaut. Pix Styles bringt neue Filter mit, die den ein oder anderen eventuell an die Prisma App erinnern. Zwischen insgesamt 11 Styles könnt ihr wählen. Das zweite Feature ist Pix Paintings, welches ein Time-Lapse Painting eures Fotos erstellt. Meiner Meinung nach ziemlich nett. Das Ganze sieht dann so aus:

One of the features, Pix Styles, transforms pictures into styles inspired by popular works of art or adds an effect such as making the picture look like it’s on fire.

Unlike a filter, which uniformly alters the colors of a photo, applying a Pix Style transfers texture, pattern and tones to the photo in the selected style, transforming it into a distinct creation, Weisberg noted. Pix Styles is launching today with 11 unique artistic styles; more will be added in the coming weeks.

A second feature, Pix Paintings, creates a time-lapse of the picture being painted in the artistic style selected – allowing users to see their masterpiece come to life.

To build the features, the Pix team used an artificial intelligence processing approach called deep neural networks, which can be used to train massive datasets – in this case troves of paintings – to learn the essence of what makes a given style of painting recognizable. This information informs the photo transformation in Pix Styles and the animated redrawing in Pix Paintings.
